Garmin 800 Data Fields

I am tired of googling and searching. I got my new Garmin 800 for Christmas and I am a bit disappointed in that I cannot get the data field numbers any larger. On the left is my 605 and on the right is the 800, both with 7 data fields. I got the 800 after reading DC Rainmaker's review. I knew that it would not be as good in direct sunlight, but the numbers are much smaller on the 800. The screen is, according to the review, larger but you can see Garmin ate up part of the larger screen with the menu and arrows on the bottom, so no net gain in usable screen . I know there must be a way to make the top row data field height smaller/less(time)so as to increase the row heights of the other data fields so the numbers will be larger. How can I do it? Thanks - Don

Generalizing, IIRC, my experience with two earlier Garmin Edge models is that the display top item will be larger than the others if there are an odd number of items and the same if there are an even number of items. So if there is one item you want larger, put that in the first slot and have an odd number of items, like seven.

You can build a customized screen with the fields you want, but you need to pick the layout early in the process. As Athens80 says, put the ones you want to be the biggest on top.
