Camping along the Danube, Passua to Vienna
read tons of trip reports on the Passau Vienna Danube bike path but never see any info on camping.
sure ppl mention where they camped etc, but no prices.
I have googled but no luck...
so, those in the know, what does it cost for a night in a camping ground? 1 tent, 2 ppl, 2 bikes?
What about camping wild on the few stretches were there are no buildings/towns?

Bikes: Touring bike for commuting and traveling, older mountainbike for fun, folder for taking on high-speed trains, where other bikes are not allowed

€ 5,50 per person, including hot shower, small tent with bicycle € 5,50.
It is easy to google the campgrounds, but the information is in german.

Wild camping is frowned upon (probably -- no direct knowledge of Austria), but there should be plenty of out of the way spots along the river, or in the nearby woods. You could always just pass out in a biergarten...

well, if I were going alone, it would be no big deal, I would ride until I am tired of riding, then sleep wherever I can, a campsite, a river bank, a biergarten.. but the wife is coming and she does not cycle much... so I would like to have a list of campsites so we can plan each day and the budget.
Would not be fun to get to the point where she cannot continue but be far from a place to sleep for the night......
Wonder if the austiran tourist office has a list oniline... thanks for the idea.

I agree it's probably best to have some kind of a backup plan, it's easy enough to divert from it if/when required.
I googled for "camping danube" and got quite a few hits, including this: https://www.rentocamp.com/campsites-danube.htm. They suck at giving direct links to campsites' own web pages (where you'd get more information), but they provide names and locations, you can google from there. I'm sure there are other similar services, maybe better than this one. And why not ask the tourist office for links. Hope this helps.

Kiitos Juha!
I tried googling too, but maybe I had a brain fart and misspelled sg or whatever.. I will check out your link... the others that I have found lead you to a list of camp sites with no prices and it got frustrating.

You could also look at renting rooms in peoples' houses -- clearly it's more than 10-20 euros, but it used to be pretty cheap. Watch out for houses with a sign "Zimmer Frei" in the window.
Anyone out there with some updated prices for that?
