Blue Marble cycles are not cheap for short-term rentals (their rate starts at €40 for the first day, and then decreases as the rental term gets longer). If you want to rent a bike for a week or longer, and you want a touring bike, they would be worth looking into.
The Vélib' system is great for short trips, but it gets increasingly expensive for longer ones (after the first hour and a half, it costs €8/hour to use the bike). You can return a bike to a station and then take it (or another one) a few minutes later, to start another rental with the first 30 minutes free, but that's not much good if you are doing a longer ride outside of town.
For short-term rentals of basic city bikes/hybrids, my wife and I have used Valmy Cycle
, on the quai de Valmy along the Canal St. Martin. I haven't used Paris à Vélo c'est sympa
, but their rates seem reasonable. If you read French, the association MDB has a list of bike shops in Paris and Île-de-France
, including those that rent bikes (indicated by "L" for "location" in the services offered column).
