Northwest France into Belgium and Holland

I'm riding with family and friends starting in early September 2014 starting in Normandy and ending in Amsterdam. We'll have about 2 weeks. I have my route posted at Cycle Bayeux - Amsterdam (FR/NL) | Route 240 | MyCycleTour.

Our objective is to visit many of the WW1 and WW2 sights to pay our respects. I'm looking for any comments you may have regarding the route, and specific points of interest or places to stay along the way. I'm also curious about weather expectations. I think I have a pretty good idea - i.e. that it can be cool and rainy, or it could be sunny and nice - so unpredictability being the keyword.

Thanks.
