I don't know if twitchy is the right word. But today, I test rode a specialized allez in size 56 (I ride a 58). The seat was a little low. The thing was when I rose out of the saddle, the bike was a little harder to accelerate than my bike. There was a lot more side to side swinging as I was pedaling out of the saddle. Granted, I only had about 200 meters of straightaway, but the frame felt less stable. I'm wondering if this is because the fork is straight, and doesn't have that slight bend, making the bike more responsive. I'm 6'1, so I wanted to switch to a 56. So I'm just wondering if my test ride today just wasn't that good, or a 56 really isn't for me.

I have a old campagnolo super record crankset which I read only goes with ISO.
This is on a peugeot bike and I donīt know if its the original thing.
And i wonder what the thread in the frame might be?

I purchased a road bike for Christmas and I love it. I've gone over 100 miles so far and I feel great about myself. But unfortunately I had a mishap the other day and my front rim bent. There's about a 8 inch section of the wheel that is bent to the side. I had to loosen my front brake as wide as possible so the pads wouldn't rub when the bent section came around, just to get it home.

My question is, what size is my wheel, and where can I get a replacement online that isn't expensive.
http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/..._al_xi_sc3.htm
There's the link to the bike that I have with all the specs. I'm just wanting a single cheap replacement wheel. Thanks in advance!

The local LBS owners is always trying to get me to "upgrade" my bike. The latest thing is he is having a sale on Felt frames. He left me a message saying he ordered a topline felt frame in my size that I could get for $1449 which sounds like a pretty good deal. I called him back to find out the specific frame and he said it's the ZW1, "It's almost the same as a 54cm Z1 frame" (54 is about the size I need). I did a little research and the geometry on a "medium" zw1 is similar but still a bit different (sometimes quite a bit different)then the Z1...

I'm 5'8 155lbs. Are there any other considerations I should be thinking of?

I'm under no obligation to get the zw1 frame but he did make the option available to me. I sent him a text back asking how much for a z1 frame a short while ago but I haven't gotten an answer back yet.

Here are links to the two frames:
They would be replacing SPD-SL 105 pedals that are currently on my bike, with 10,000 miles on them. Would you consider swapping them out before a big ride? I might get a few minutes with them tonight on the trainer, but that will be it. Since they are the same format, I am thinking my fit will not be affected. I know there is a risk that they could be defective and cause a problem during the ride. But I am thinking they will feel alot smoother than the 105's that already have 10000 miles on the bearings. I bought them with the thought that I would really appreciate them on this ride...

Headed down to the US98 trailhead of the Suncoast today and was greeted by a "Trail Closed" sign so I drove down to SR50. Rode north from there and found that the trail isn't closed -- yet. I'm guessing that starting Tuesday (after the Memorial Day weekend) it will be closed between mile marker 40 1/2 and 41 1/4. They've paved a path for the large equipment and dump trucks to get from the roadway to the retention area they're enlarging. The trucks and equipment will be driving across the trail.
So you can ride north to about the 40 1/2 mile marker.
The construction folks told me the trail will be closed for a few months.

We were going up hill at a very moderate effort, and it snapped, bringing the rider crashing down into a ditch. While I have ridden carbon cranks for a while, this makes me nervous. There was no sign of a failure, or damage, just a catastrophic failure. It was probably about 4-5 years old, and was a 50/36. Has this been common with FSA? How about other carbon crank manufactures? Campy, etc?? Any way of telling BEFORE it fails? Any hope that FSA will replace? Thanks-
