Wasted week
Between Having a cold/flu and 5 days of rain my week went down the tube as far as getting 25-30 miles a week I got out today by the time a had 2 miles in my sinuses started giving me trouble. My total mileage for this week is a whopping 2.6 miles. Only bright point to this week I have been looking for an huffy 3 speed like my first geared bike and I found one in excellent shape

Sorry to hear that. But 2 miles are so much more than no miles. You'll do it.

don't get too upset about missing time to weather or brief illness. And don't try to make up for lost time by riding beyond your ability.
Keep your eye on the long view, stay committed to riding when you can, and you'll be fine.
I'm about to miss a week owing to travel. I don't like it - particularly because it's only the last week or so where I've felt some good progress emerging from my winter sluggishness - but it's unavoidable.

This too shall pass. Be patient. But you already knew that. I hope you guys heal quickly. Our cold weather and a 2 week bout with the flu has me starting the season for the 3rd time this past week. Yesterday it was 77deg here in Boyne City.

14 weeks and still counting before I can ride again.
It sucks, but is only wasted if you do nothing positive in that time.

It happens--keep a positive attitude and it will go faster!
Just got back on the bike after 6 weeks for a dislocated and fractured big toe with pins sticking out and now getting over an inguinal hernia surgery--hopefully back next week!
Got to roll with the punches!

Its a stomach bug around here, got a hold of both of us Sunday night and yesterday. Missed riding yesterday, but the heavy rains would have done that anywho. Somehow the flu shot worked for both if us, and not even a head cold either.
I hope everyone gets over their various problems since spring might just make a firm appearance, not just a tease. You guys that had surgeries, please don't push things, as said above, after 16 of them in 10 years I can testify to what happens if you try to push it too soon, you only fool yourself. Like Gerry said, use the down time constructively, I cleaned up the bike and checked the indexing on the drive train yesterday, just made sure I was near the restroom, and the path was clear

Will be 1 week at 4:30pm since the stitches were installed. 5 mile 13mpm pace walk on Sunday. Mowed the lawn yesterday, pool cleaning today, food shopping, house work and cooking, all things to keep the house running since the boss lady told me to leave the work force end of previous century. She ordered a new bike for herself that will be coming to the house this Friday so I'll assemble it and she'll have 3.5 months of break-in before she retires and we do more serious biking together. Doctor visit on Thursday for post-op check and looking for the OK to get back bicycling. Should also get the OK for swimming but will have to do the Stingray Shuffle so I don't get a barb in the foot or leg since they're back in the warming Gulf waters.
Hoping the OP and others who can, are wearing out tires and chains. To the rest, rest and prepare for the days of riding to come.

I am still fighting the upper respiratory thing but the rain slowed down enough that I was able to till about 1/4 of my garden and get some greens in. Started raining as I was putting the last kale plant in . Got kale, collards, mustard and cabbage plants in lettuce and swiss chard seeds planted and onion sets

We had a weird version of that virus here about a month ago. In the past week our club had it's first ride and we've done some other rides for about 70 mi. with around 4,000 ft of climbing. Telling ourselves to take our time and just get some miles in our legs but still averaging about 13.5 mph. That is very good for us at this time of the year so we are encouraged. But, the best part is just being able to get out and enjoy the world.

Well, here in Northern Michigan we just got 2" of snow last night and it's snowing right now!.. We just bought new bikes and are very excited about riding again. Staring out the window right now and bummed out. We hit the bike paths 10 days ago and had to portage over a bunch of snow/ice in places. Then we rode a rails to trails path that was still really soft from snowmelt and it was sheer torture, uphill both ways it seemed. Wished we'd bought mountain bikes but I've been assured those trails firm up and our hybrids will be fine on them.
