The angle of the camera makes it look steeper than it is. The grades at each end are 5.1% and 6.1%. Its really not that bad when looking at it from the side.

The effect is foreshortening due to using a long telephoto lens.

To celebrate his 70th birthday a rider here in the Kootenays rode our local road (2000 vertical ft straight up, avg. grade 7%) seven times in a row that day.
