Met my August Goal!
I took up cycling on May 31st after a calf injury in mid April prevented me from running. I've been slowly upping my daily/weekly miles and time on the bike. This month I set myself a goal of 400 miles for August. Took a few days off for recovery and family commitments, but stayed on target to make my goal. However, the weather took a turn for the worse the last few days of August (Olympia-Seattle area) with heavy rain, downed trees, and debris over many of the trails. It wasn't raining, so I left work early and got on the bike. Got the 30 miles I needed to make my August goal, plus a few extra!
Total cycling miles for August: 403.6 miles
(21 sessions, 28 hours 55 mins total.)
I'm going to take a few days off for some serious rest and recovery, and to figure out what to do now that the weather has turned. I like riding the trails, but the wet leaves and twigs made today's ride a little scary at times.
This forum has been a great place for me to pick up tips and inspiration. Thanks!
Excellent!!! RIDE ON!!!
Don't make your next goal too hard for fear of causing an injury during its pursuit. Remember, bicycling should also be fun in addition to cranking out the miles.
I made my August Goal too; just over 1,000 miles (1,058) but with the heat we had last weekend (107 Deg.F. on my Garmin) I was beginning to have some doubts. Got it though, with a minimum of suffering.

My August goal was not to get heat stroke.
I'm ready for fall.
Congrats to those that had and met their goal.
