50+ Ride for pie day

Tomorrow, Sept 19, is the official 50+ ride for pie day. This used to be a bigger deal before the joy killing topic police took over 50+.

Good pie stops are getting harder to find so Mrs. Grouch and I bought an apple caramel nut pie (with natural vanilla ice cream) for an after ride snack tomorrow. (Go Rans.) Left overs are going to our regular football party on Sunday. (Go Rams!)

Some of the local riding groups ride to this place for breakfast. Not sure if pie is good for breakfast but my wife and I go there at least once a month for lunch and pie. They have ~22 different pies every day.

I'm a little shocked that you would question whether pie is good for breakfast. People consider toast and orange juice to be breakfast foods. Is not pie made of a wheat based crust and fruit? Not much different than toast and orange juice.

I'm doing a charity ride tomorrow that starts and ends at the Whistle Stop Cafe in Juliette, Ga., of "Fried Green Tomatoes"fame. I'm betting they can serve up some good pie and ice cream after the ride.

Had to do my "Pie Ride" today, but will eat the pie tomorrow. If luck happens and the stars align correctly, maybe another ride tomorrow.

Bicycling and pie eating has to be two of my favorite things. And yes... come to think of it I can't think of even one good ole pie restaurant around here. But it sounds like FUN.

I love blueberry and cheery pie with ice cream for weekend breakfast. I consider it the same as a Danish.

Ride in the morning then the kids are coming by for steak and fries. One of the daughters will be bringing apple crisp. Figure that's pie, just pre broken up. A la mode of course.

Only in the US. I found out that in the UK, for example, that date is called 14-3. Yet another reason why it's good to be an American. we get more pie days.

Given life circumstances, the best I could do was a 20 mile ride yesterday and a 8 mile ride today, with a McD's strawberry cream pie a la mode somewhere in the middle of all that.

Here is a pic:

No pie here, but I did make a long enough ride to qualify. I had a nice raspberry fig bar and some apricot Greek yogurt afterwards. Chocolate milk to wash things down.

My wife and I rode the Pie ride in the rain.

Rhubarb Strawberry is the flavour of the day.

I rode 43 miles at the charity ride and then had peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream at The Whistle Stop Cafe. That's sort of like pie in a bowl.
