Accidental Pie Ride

Last Sunday, September 27, a friend and I rode in the Twin Lights Ride organized by Bike New York. We did the 55 mile loop on which there were four rest stops! Good snacks at all the stops, and the second stop had pie:

I enjoyed the cherry pie even without a fork (forks had run out, probably someone came to a fork in the road and took it!).

I love it when a plan comes together.

I thought to myself, how could a pie ride be accidental? Unplanned yes, but never accidental. You made a good choice to have pie!

Calling it accidental is a good story. I would say stick to that, but its not that believable

Why the "accidental" ?
They had pie, you ate it - no problem !

I love pie at rest stops during organized rides. I get so sick of PB&J and bananas.

I was a marshal for the Twin Lights ride. The weather was great, overcast but not much wind and very comfortable. Definitely making that an annual event on my calendar.

The Kisatchie Bike Club (central Louisiana) had its annual Pie-athlon ride this morning: 10/03/15 - Woodworth, LA
We stopped at Lea's Lunchroom in Lecompte (pronounced "luh-count"), which is regionally famous for its pies: https://www.leaslunchroom.com
I had apple:

I learned, once again, there's something to be said for being young and/or in shape (conversely, there's something to be said about old and out of shape ). It's an absolutely beautiful fall day -- It was about 60F when we left, clear blue sky, couldn't be better... And after we finished licking our pie plates we headed back outside into a nice stiff north wind for the ride back. Ouch. But at least misery loves company and we stuck together for the most part. The anticipated pace was advertised as "socially acceptable". I thought that meant easy... I learned it means, "whatever the group ends up doing". Oh well - Not a problem at all, I need that sort of workout more often than I get it.
