Stationary Bike Questions

Not sure, if I'm posting this in the right forum but here goes anyway....

I'm developing arthritis in my left hip which seems to be worsening. About the only physical activity which doesn't seem to bother it (or the pain is at least minimal) is bike riding. Unfortunately, here in the northeast, the season for outdoor bike riding is just about over. (At least, it is for me....).

So, I'm considering getting a stationary bike for home and am seeking advice. Based on previous experience at the gym, I'd prefer a recumbent. I'm looking for information on "features" to avoid, and features to look for. Any such info would be appreciated. And links to specific recumbent bikes would REALLY be appreciated.

Thanks!

What bike do you ride now? If its a road, mtn or hybrid why not get a trainer to mount the bike on? Then you'll be riding the bike you're comfortable on.

Another vote for a trainer over a stationary bike.

It's a Specialized Expedition.

I'm not considering a trainer because I don't have a basement or suitable space in the house for my bike. So, I'd rather have a stationary recumbent.

Sorry but I don't understand your reply. A bike on a trainer takes up about the same amount of space as a stationary recumbent and its easier to disassemble and move. But to each his own.

I have my road bike on my trainer. But my wife needed a better sturdier solution..

I saw the white Permormance branded trainer at the thrift store for $15 and knew my wife would love it. Cheap dept. store bicycle for drivetrain only. Bike will never be ridden due to her balance issues, but it is rock solid on that trainer for her and with her disabilities, she can easily step through the cheap women's frame.. I use Wahoo Blue SC sensro on my Cannondale, and she has a Schosche unit that is visually identical, added a new battery and both our phones use the Wahoo Fitness app. She LOVES having some way to quantify her time and distance... And has challenged our adult children to match or beat...

I need a new laptop before I can run Zwift...
