I may be new to cycling but I will past qualifying for 50+. Dr. said lose weight my sugar was high in the spring. So among other measures I started riding my 20 yr old Mongoose Threshold starting at 5 miles. Slowly but surely the miles went up. Did 30 last Sunday on the new bike(Fathers Day present). Reading the posts on this 50+ forum was a great encouragement. Thanks

Welcome.
Keep pedaling - it's its own reward.
Got picks of the bikes?
On your way to a fleet is my guess.

No pics Wildwood, As my kids say to me I am barely computer literate. I was leaning to a flat bar racer but after riding for a while I came to realize that a more upright position was easier on the soon to be 63 year old back. So I got a Giant Cypress DX. Its a pleasure to ride compared to my 20 year old bike

Ron,Thanks for asking.I lost about 14 lbs the first month before I started cycling.By the third month(May)I lost between 25-30 lbs.Right now the riding has been helping me maintain that loss so I can eat some of the food that I was missing out on.
