Hello Cornhuskers!!
87.6 miles from Douglas Wy to Harrison Nebraska. Not a bad hotel for tonight, especially for the remoteness.
Another very breezy day. Where are the westerly breezes??? I opted to swap bikes and use my TT bike instead of my road bike today. My butt thanked me all day for doing that!! I opted to take a back road from Douglas at the start which turned into a heavily graveled road. I made a brief attempt to stay on it but with skinny tires, carbon rims and a TT setup I found another way.
That's by far the longest I've ridden my TT bike. I had raised the bars and lowered the seat to make it more comfortable for longer distances. It was a really good call based on the winds, terrain and giving my sit bones some relief.
For the first time in about 1400 miles there wasn't a shoulder to ride on. This was from Lusk Wy to the state line. I rode in the lane with all the other 70 mph traffic. Fortunately it wasn't a very busy road. I needed more room than normal as it was hard to hold a straight line.
4 states down!! It will take a few days to get across Nebraska.
If I'm not mistaken this is a porcupine???

This looks to be the same spot Doug had his picture taken when his wife and he rode Hwy 20.

How many bikes you bring?
Might as well crank out a 100 miler when you get the right road and conditions. Be safe.
I like the bullet holes in the sign.
