Cross Country...Mentor, Oh to Erie, Pa
Goodbye Ohio!! I enjoyed visiting but won't miss the drivers who just seemed to be in more of a hurry than other states I've ridden in. What's with that??? Only 79 miles today.
Great roads today. I'm still following Hwy 20 but riding more back roads. I rode a lot on Hwy 84 and then Hwy 5 for 25 miles into Erie. 84 was a great road. Hwy 5 was phenomenal.....smooth asphalt, low traffic and4' wide shoulders. It seemed all the pavement through towns was extremely rough. I guess towns have more pressing needs than keeping road surfaces acceptable. I also rode 6 miles of the Western Reserve Greenway......I was the only person using the trail with it being rainy. Go figure!!!
Neither rain, lightning nor wind could keep me off my bike today!! However I did take cover on a porch during some lightning. Luckily it was a historical house and unoccupied!
Leaving

Entering
Rainy
Snack time
Terrific road!!

Wow, you sure are making good progress!
I was raised in Erie and have relatives there but left the area many years ago when the jobs started moving out.
Not pleasant for you today, but seems for the most part the weather has been kind to you - hope it continues.
Just curious - where did you stay in Erie?
