Riding tomorrow AND cooking for the family - who's in?

I do it every year. The complete Thanksgiving spread ... and I try to get in a 40-50 mile early morning ride.

It's really NOT that hard ... the only thing I end up compromising on is usually a few hours of sleep ... generally do most of my food prep in the evening, then get up, slip the turkey in the oven and get that started, and leave for my ride about 5:30 am. Finishing up the food is generally never a problem, as I have a LOT of time until dinner at 2:00 in the afternoon.

BTW - I'm eating clean, healthy food ... and so are they ... whether they like it or not!

Steady rain forecast.
Why deny the picky wife what she enjoys doing.
My job is to not eat/drink too much and handle all the clean-up.
We don't upset the world order.
Tradition.
Several guests for T-giving dinner.

I'm in for the 50 miles, but only if we've got company that dropped by. Back in time for the game of course.

Giving thanks presupposes someone to be thankful to.
To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. ... I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.
- Abraham Lincoln, Oct 3, 1863

I'm going to Mass to give thanks. Riding can wait for black Friday.

I am looking to get 30 miles in before heading out for the family gathering. Expecting 30º and calm winds.

I plan to do my customary early holiday morning 25-30 mile bike ride. Last year the annual "Turkey Trot" run closed off my best route (Coast Highway 101 through southern Encinitas, for those familiar with north coastal San Diego County), but I got my friends on City Council to convince the organizers to adjust the street closure for this year's run.

Thanksgiving meal is easy -- over the river (small creek) and through the woods (Encinitas golf course) to my mother-in-law's nearby retirement community, where they put on a very nice buffet spread every year.

Its just the two of us so we (mostly my wife) got everything together yesterday and today so she said I could ride in the AM. When I get home I'll help however I can.
She's cooking the chicken (they don't have turkeys small enough for two people), green beans, sweet potato, fresh made cranberry sauce, etc. I made a pumpkin pie.

I'm hoping for a two hour morning ride if the weather cooperates with our travel plans. We have a 45 minute drive to my brother-in-law's home for dinner. Weather Underground is giving the more favorable forecast as of now.

Hope to get 30 miles in once it warms up in the late morning. Just cooking a turkey breast, so it will probably go in when the ride is over.

Since I do most of the cooking any way, ride or no, this isn't really anything special. Have most of it made up ahead of time. Ride, cook. That's life.

Well been concentrating on running trying to get stride ironed out a bit smooth so it was 8.75 run but manage to run the last 2 miles the fastest. No turkey but some ham and a Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. I do have my eye on a Lynskey Helix Sport on ebay almost new talk me out of it. The other option is a Lynskey 240 again I an RC...............runner with a cycling problem.
