You can always come back, but you can't come back all the way

Hello again. Enjoying moving into Santa Cruz CA, and remodelling a little house that spouse and I had rented out for 40 years! In need of a LOT of work.
I had, in UK, a 1990 Specialized Sirrus Triple and loved it for 27 years, many thousands of miles, tours in many countries. It was not exactly like the one pictured, but similar. Sold it in UK as part of clearing out and moving to Ca.

I found one on Craigslist, identical to my old reliable, so had to buy it, You'd all have done the same, no?
What can I say?. Old romances - sometimes better to just see that new stuff is better than old stuff! However, I did enjoy a long downhill from Pinecrest to Sonora, in the Sierra Nevada.
Best wishes, all

Good to have you back WOG. But I agree in many way coming back is a different process than we think it is. I got back into Cycling after a 20 year layoff. When I left I had a Viscount, one of the last group made in England, and thought it was a great machine. Death fork and all. I wanted to recapture the days when I rode over hill and dale on that machine so I headed to the bike shop to see what they had. By then almost all road bikes came with STI and better rims and tires. I got a Jamis road bike and then built a Lapierre in Scandium and moved on to a Tarmac CF machine. But I missed my Viscount. My LBS got a Viscount just like my old one and had it completely redone. I wanted one bad and to a degree was wondering if all of the praise for steel machines was real of imagined. It turns out to be a bit of both I believe. Anyway finally I got an old Peugeot Frame and built up a nice little coffee shop bike. It is different than Aluminum, Ti, Scandium and CF. Is it as great as I remember? No just different in a classic way. But if I were even thinking of a long climb or even a century ride my body isn't as forgiving as it was 20 plus year ago. Shoot I have been off of my bikes for weeks now recovering from a torn ligament So my body isn't as forgiving as it was months ago.
