Terrific! Welcome to the "50+ Century Club" joeprim!! That's an incredible accomphlisment. If you were like me, it's a challenge just knowing if you can physically and mentally go the distance.
One of my goals for this year was to do at least 1 century a month and have come pretty close. I actually have 5 scheduled for the next 2 months so if I'm able to do them all at least I'll be slightly above the average of 12 for the year.

superdex - sorry we didn't meet
va_cyclist - sorry you didn't see it I mentioned it, maybe uder "rides". Anyway this is Powhatan county's third wine festival on Saturday and second bike ride on the following Sunday. The wine festival has booths of most of Va.'s wine makers for tasteing and buying. The camp at the junior high school Saturday night and the ride Sunday. You choice 1/2 metric or metric century or they call it the English century.
Thanks Denver and jppe.

Century rides take a lot of guts to attempt, whether they are the metric or the true 100 milers. Now you have the next achievement to do and that is sit back on the saddle within 2 days of completing it. I still wince at the thought of a tender backside and hours spent in the saddle. Well done, but what's your next goal?

Folks,
Don't mean to hijack the thread but supposedly 'Bicycling' has some tips on
doing a century. It may be last months issue because I checked the newsstand
last night and it wasn't in the issue on the stand. The tips were written by
an older gentleman here in Columbia, SC, who supposedly does about three a
week.
If anyone is interested and finds the article I would love to know more since
I am considering trying a century this fall down along the coast where it is flat.

Not sure of next goal. The B&O canal is a tempting target as are some other trips.
Thanks
