Do you talk to your bike?

I discovered today that I do. I talk about the route ahead, let her know that this patch of rough road won't last long, and thank her for pulling me through a tough spot (like the incident with the bus that nearly blew me off the planet this morning).

Anyway, I talk to my faithful steed. Do others as well, or should I get counseling, immediately?

I can't recall talking to my bike, but I constantly humiliate myself when a passerby overhears me talking to myself, "Just ten more mile", "Come on, you can do it!" or, if someone bugs me, "Yeah, you're so MFn great!!!"

I think we all talk to ourselves or inanimate objects. I doubt any real football fan can ever claim to not having screamed at the TV when a ref blows a call against your team.

But, if you start talking romantically to your bike, worry!!!

"Hey honey, whatcha doing later?"

I agree with Keith. People will think I'm crazy if I talk to my bike, so I just stick to talking with myself. I really hate losing those arguments I have, too.

Never talk to my bike. Swear at it occasionally as it always want something and keeps on and on and on, not giving me any peace until I get it. Last time it was tyres, the time before a new rear mech and cables. Last month it even wanted a polish after its weekly clean. Sorry, but untill the bike learns never to whine like a spoilt little kid- we are not on speaking terms.

I don't care what ol' Sliver says, I am talking to myself, and he just listens in.

Do you argue with your bike?, If yes, who wins the arguements?

Only when I'm cleaning it.

"I'm sorry I let you get this dirty."
"Oh, where did you get this scratch from?"
"Let me get your chain all clean."
"I'll get your toothbrush for your derailleur."
"Do you want to be waxed today?"

Everybody knows to leave me alone when I'm in this mode. Or is it that they just stay a nice safe distance back?

Yep, even have a name for the bike, Montey, (short for Monterey), LOL, on hills I'm trying to convince both myself and the bicycle we can make it without stopping and I too tell it I'm sorry when I smack a hole or hard bump, it's become quite a friend so if that's nut's sign me up for the looney bin!!

Don't talk to my bike. Don't talk to myself. I talk to Lance. Usually I give him pointers and warnings about upcoming sections of the ride. He is riding on my wheel waiting for the point where he can jump out to grab the lead from our competitors, but I got him there!!!

First off, are we talking about Christine (Airborne) or Lola (Bianchi)? I don't really talk to Christine..... just answer her.

As to Lola...... of course not! I don't speak Italian! Sheeeesh!

Once upon a time only crazy people talked to themselves.

Now, thanks to cellphones, everyone does.

I think I liked it better the old way.
