Outside Ride! In NH in JANUARY!
I can't believe it! Temps warmed to 45F, the sun was mostly shinning, so I put the sermon on hold, pulled the Cannondale down from its winter ceiling hooks in the basement and threw on the layers. 22 miles later with the temp at 39F, numb toes, and the biggest grin on my face , I pulled back into the basement. Today certainly was an unexpected gift! Heavy rain on Saturday and then more snow on Sunday. Let's see if I can do this again in February.
Bob
P.S. I would have taken pictures but my wife and daughter took the camera with them to Arizona for the long warm weekend. It's just me and the Corgis until Monday night.

Good for you! Sounds like a wonderful time.
I had a wonderful 28 miles in Denver, CO in the 50's today. Just delightful. So far, I have put 153 miles on since January 1, which, while not comparable to some folks mileage in other climates such as Florida, is pretty good here in CO in January.

Way to go Pastor Bob! By the way, aren't Corgi's the dogs of Queen Elizabeth? I remember hearing that somewhere along the line.
I got in 25 miles today, trying to put a few more between me and DnvrFox (of course, I have a climate advantage) and there he goes, doing 28. Hmmmph. And we're expecting the heavens to fall (just a figure of speech, Pastor!) tomorrow and Sunday.
Anyway, congrats on the ride. You sound pumped!

Yes, Corgis are the dogs that Queen Elizabeth raises. And BTW, my daughter's name is "Elizabeth."
Yes, I'm pumped! Just finshed cleaning the road grit and salt off the Cannondale and I didn't even mind. I think I'm going to go swap the bars and the brakes on Schwinn Traveler before heading to bed. Keeps me out of the bars while the girls are on your side of the country!

If that ride doesn't inspire a sermon I don't know what will!! What a gift to be able to get out and feel the breeze while riding for a change. Do you think you'll be able to get back on the trainer after getting back outside for 20 miles??
Yesterday was absolutley a perfect day in NC for riding-no wind and temps in the high 60's-so what did I do? I did some "cross training" and went out and played golf!! I already had close to 200 miles this week so I didn't want to overdo it........
Tomorrow is another Polar Bear ride and the temps are supposed to be in the low 40's but the winds could be 20+ mph. If that turns out to be the case this Polar Bear will be hibernating. Give me hills over wind any day!!!!
Love the Corgis! Trade you a beagle for one of those. Mine will sing to you all night when there's a full moon.

The younger one goes in her crate for the night, but I have to cover it or she'll stay awake all night ready to play. We call it the Canary Cage! Watch out for that full moon over the weekend! You better wear ear plugs!

I got in 30 miles yesterday, the temperature was near 60 degrees and bright sunshine. Today has been cold and rain with snow flurries tomorrow. Pastor Bob, that is a beautiful tri-color Corgi you have there. Our little Ginger looked just like that. We lost her about a year ago when she was 10 years old after a lingering illness. We still miss her and talk about the cute things she did.

Al,
Thanks for your memories about your Corgi. I know you miss her. If you look closely, my tri has a blue eye. The one you can't see is normal (dark brown). Your rain then you snow is coming my way today and tomorrow. I went to Milligan College in northern East Tennessee. NH is very similar.

Knoxville is in the Tennesse River valley, a little less mountainous than the northeast part of the state We still have plenty of hills though. My youngest daughter graduated in Dec. from East Tennessee State Univeristy, just down the road from Milligan College. Johnson City is about two hours away, she is looking for a job there and probably stay in the area.

It warmed to a balmy 40 here in IA today with bright sun and gentle breezes. I did about 17 miles and even more remarkable than that, there have been farmers actually doing some tillage work since there is no frost in the ground. Deep snow earlier kept the frost out. You can't beat the smell of freshly turned soil in the "springtime". Talking 45 degrees for tomorrow! More breaking in for the new bike. (and me)

Yah! Very nice weather. But not today. Rain. More snow tomorrow. Low turn out for services. You bet.
