What Gets Stuck in Your Head?
OK, so I saw this thread on another forum the other day.
"What songs get stuck in your head while you are riding"? Unfortunately that forum was all youngsters and I didn't know any of the songs. Thought it might be fun to do with other 50+ers.
Lately for me it has been "Radar Love" by Golden Earing and "Move It On Over" by George Thorogood.

"Don't Fear The Reaper," by Blue Oyster Cult, and one I can't remember the name of by some girl group from the '60s. The lyrics go "What are you gonna do when I'm gone, whose shoulder are you gonna cry on?"

My music sense has been permanently warped by a 21-year-old who burns me stuff from the Kranked and New World Disorder MTB video soundtracks. So I get things like: Foo Fighters' All My life; Anthrax's Fueled stuck in my head . . . along with standards like Boston's Smokin' and Molly Hatchet's Flirtin' with Disaster (my personal 'theme song' .

I wish a song would get stuck in my head more often. Being a somewhat obsessive-compulsive personality, I find myself counting my pedal strokes... talk about boring.

It depends on what I am riding.
Bianchi: Neopolitan/Neapolitan songs and Italian opera arias
Capo: "Edelweiss" ["Sound of Music"] or the old Austrian imperial anthem “Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser” (“God Save Franz the Emperor”) by Franz Joseph Haydn.

The cure to "unstick" a song in your head is a few choruses of Disney's It's a Small World, Afterall.
Of course, then you have THAT song stuck in your head.

You guys have better memories than me. I can't remember from one ride to the next what song gets stuck in my head. But I usually do have an ear worm on longer rides.

Don't have any particular song but at the spinning classes we have various songs to ride to a a cadence of about 85. When I start those long hills- I pick on several songs By Queen, and sing them just to get the cadence right. Sing it in my gead though as I have atendency to increase the rhythm abd cadence as I start enjoying the tune buzzing round my head. It has to be Queen with a song like-"I like to ride my Bicycle" or just recently I am going back to my Youth with John Lee Hooker.

To the tune of "Bridge Over the River Kwai", learned in third grade, and for my everlasting sins. . .
"Comet, it makes your mouth feel clean,
"Comet, it tastes like gasoline,
"Comet, it makes you vomit,
"So eat some Comet, and vomit today. . ."
Sometimes it's "Deutschland Uber Alles".
HopeDaleHills mentioned this string in another folder. Someone there mentioned "Your Red Scarf Matches Your Eyes", which I've been singing non-stop since. . .including in my sleep. My wife mentioned several times that it doesn't make a bit of sense, what the hell's a "Shipfitter", and anyway shouldn't someone slap me for saying a word like that?
OH, YOUR RED SCARF MATCHES YOUR EYES,
YOU CLOSED YOUR COVER BEFORE STRIKING,
FATHER HAD THE SHIPFITTER BLUES,
LOVING YOU HAS MADE ME BANANAS,
OH, YOUR RED SCARF MATCHES YOUR EYES,
YOU CLOSED YOUR COVER BEFORE STRIKING,
FATHER HAD THE SHIPFITTER BLUES,
LOVING YOU HAS MADE ME BANANAS,
OH, YOU BURNT YOUR FINGER THAT EVENING,
WHILE MY BACK WAS TURNED,
I ASKED THE WAITER FOR IODINE,
BUT I DINED ALL ALONE,
OH, YOUR RED SCARF MATCHES YOUR EYES,
YOU CLOSED YOUR COVER BEFORE STRIKING,
FATHER HAD THE SHIPFITTER BLUES,
LOVING YOU HAS MADE ME BANANAS.
Discussion: What is it about the human psyche that makes this happen?

Today (for some reason) it was "Sailing" - Christopher Cross. Tried the "Its A Small World Afterall" thing and it did not work. Switched back to Sailing after a short bit. So I thought about George Bush for while and that ended all the music.

I'm still singing "Mustang Sally." Now around the house. My wife finally says to me, "What an idiotic song."
I reply. "What do you expect? You married an idiot."
She gave that ironic "knowing wives smile" and disappeared into the garden.
