I would like to know what you all think about the Trek 1100 road bike.

I have a shot at one that looks to be in great condition. The paint looks very good as does the drive train and brakes, wheels etc. It has new Michelin 700c tires on it (not sure of the exact size). It has been completely rebuilt (so the LBS says), lubricated and adjusted. I took it out for a short spin and it seems fine to me. They want $250US for it. Is that a gook price or am I being taken for a ride?

Fit is the most important thing.

You need to do a longer ride to make sure it "fits" you.

Thanks for the responses, it looks like this may be a good deal.

I think the original price tag on this one was somewhere around $650.

The frame size of this bike is the right size for me according to the Rivendell method, it seemed like the right size when I rode it. I'm going back over today to check it out again, ride it some more and then make a decision. I'll let you know if I bring it home or not.

+1 to making sure the fit is right. I think the price to get a quality intro road bike is fair. Will the LBS give you any warranty on the work they did on the bike?

The LBS said that they would adjust 1 a month for a year if I bring it in and fix anything for 90 days free and after that for the rest of the first year for parts.

Actually it fits me great, I am more comfortable on this bike that the mtb I've been riding. I put some miles on it today and it feels pretty good.

Yea, I got it. Took it out for about 10 miles this eve. I have some adjusting to do. I seem to slide forward on the seat, I think if I move it forward that might help. The seat is about the right height, but I'm not used to road bikes so I'm not sure how to adjust the seat height in relation to the handlebar height. Maybe some you all can point me in the right direction for some instructions on how to do it.

I really like the feel of it, but it's going to take some getting used to the shifters on the down tube. I may want to change that in the future.

I'm pretty excited about it. The only bike I've road is the mtb since I bought it new in '89 or '90 (can't remember exact year). It sure seems like I can go faster. I connect up the computer to it after I went for the ride so tomorrow I'll have a better idea about that, I'll let you all know.
