I posted this thread a while back.
My all time favorite song is Don McLean and American Pie. It just dawned on me while looking at DenverFox's blueberry pie picture in another post, the one about Landis. As a matter of fact, my boys recently gave me a CD they custom recored and ALL that is on it is the long version of American Pie, over and over.
Must be some kind of metaphysical karma or something that drew me to this forum, what with all the pie business.
So, I recommend that we adopt AMERICAN PIE as the official theme song for the forum.

In addition to the theme song recommendation. How about an official "Pie Rating System"?
Pi R Round
PiR 1
PiR 2
PiR 3
etc.

it's the digital age - you can make it any cadence you choose
I used to sing Roger Miller's "King of the Road" for miles backpacking through the wilderness of the Grand Canyon: now I hum it while the wheels whirr, the birds sing, my seat is comfortable, the sun shines, the lawn doesn't need mowing.

If it's pie you want, then I suggest you go ride RAGBRAI. There is homemade pie and ice cream everywhere, and most of the ladies make their crust with lard (nice and flaky) I had pie at least twice a day.

Certain tunes do put me in the mood for pushing it on the bike. 1812 is fine for uphills- John lee Hooker at double pace is fine for spinning but I am yet to find one at the correct speed for the slow sections of the ride where too high a cadence causes the pie to break up before I can eat it.

While I have an iPod, I've actually never worn it while riding the bike. Only very occasionally will I take a small portable radio & listen to NPR. Otherwise no music to motivate. John Lee Hooker is fine any time.
