UPDATE: Broken Spoke!
My wheel set has arrived. These were ordered from Colorado Cyclist and UPS dropped them off today. Shimano Ultegra hub set, Mavic Open Pro rims, both at 32 holes, DT Stainless 15/14 gage double butted spokes, laced 3 cross. These should be a bit tougher that the 16 spoke wheels I broke a spoke on.
And before some ask why not fix the old one: parts, including spokes, are no longer available for the Gipiemme Grecal Parade hubs/rims that were stock on my 03 Cannondale.

Sounds a good set of wheels but how much?
Little tip is that the spokes are probably set up tight if they were handbuilt. I sometimes tweak the spokes to loosen a bit and this saves the Spokes playing a tune as they settle in over the first couple of miles. Also take the first ride gently -just to let them settle down- gently.

I thought about that also, the local shops would not touch the idea. And I don't have a stand for wheel work (yet).
A solid wheel, reminds me of a time trial. Me, just 210 pounds of grunt going up a hill! (I bent a seat post one time also, on an old Varsity)
