Pie in the Sky.......Got a Problem!

I am not, as some suspect, a professional cyclist road racer. No, I'm a classroom teacher and I've just discovered "they" have scheduled a voluntary training day on Saturday, Sept. 16th. This is horrible. If I blow it off, single-income-with-two-in-college me will lose $285. The alternative is equally unthinkable-- miss the Pie Ride. (I've already bought 2 bags of frozen blueberries to make my own pie.)

What to do? PastorBob....where are you???

Any advice, consolation, alternatives? What would you do?

A Sunday pie ride is possible, but not really the same.

???

Can you do your ride on Grenwich Mean Time?

Can you explain the situation to them and have them postpone the training?

Can you ride to your training, taking your homemade slice with you?

Can you send your twin brother to the training?

Oh me, oh my!

But, IMHO, Sunday is fine!

What are the hours of the training? Could do ride before or after, or split the ride and do both? Could you show up for the training, sign the official sign in sheet, and get an "emergency" phone call on your cell phone (wink, wink) and have to leave suddenly?

If all fails, I agree with Sunday. Not perfect, but better than nuttin'. :)

I agree. The days are still long enough to do a 15 mile ride around a day's schedule.

Could you combine both worlds, pedal to the training taking a route of 7.5 miles plus, have the pie during training and then pedal home?

Gimme CC's number, and I'll make the call at the appointed hour...

You've inspired me. I'll just have to miss the Olde Phartes' Saturday Morning Gruppetto and do a late afternoon/evening ride alone............and eat the whole damned pie myself for dinner when I get back. I'll take a picture of myself with messy face.

** Commuting to the teacher training through 20 miles of nasty traffic and back again is no way to celebrate The Pie Rite. Rolling hills in the evenng breeze seems more worthy.

A state call from Pres. Geoge W. Diego asking my counsel might just do it.

Screw the Pie, I'm just the man for the job, Guverner. I know lots about gruppos and I have some friends online you can gruppo, too. It's been a while....just what is a "women"? Do they ride well? I'd like a fast one with good components and light weight, and not a lot of miles. No serious dings or crashes. And she has to look good leaning against the window at Starbuck's. Oh, and a really good set of brifters that fit my hands & I can get a grip on.

Kind of wish I'd voted for you now.
