You think Dogs are bad........
I got chased by a 2,000 pound Bull today!
I drove up to Harmony, MN to ride this morning and was hammering down this hill and a long false flat and came around a corner and here was this Bull standing in the middle of the trail with a pickup truck behind him. Needless to say I slammed on my brakes, came to a stop, the guy in the truck stuck his head out and yelled,"Watch out, he's ornery!" About this time the Bull sees red...... I mean literally. I pick today to wear my red jersey..... The Bull takes off to wards me.... I take off the way I came.... only faster! A couple of hundred yards up the Trail a second pickup lets me pass and then pulls onto the trail honking his horn.... The bull stops and turns around, thankfully, and the two pickups herd the beast into the proper pasture and shut the gate. I get up there and both farmers get out of truck laughing..... they both though I could have beat Lance on that sprint.... it seems some kids on quads were responsible for letting him out..... It sure got my adrenaline going!

Funny story...but it sure had the opportunity to turn out with a different ending. Glad you're okay Grampy and now I'm truly ashamed of myself for sprinting away from an ankle high Pomeranian.

I had no idea what to expect when I opened this thread, but I'm sure glad I did.
I could just imagine this as a silent film...
Thanks for riding fast enough to be able to share the story.

Grampy: Now I have a new training technique to consider that can help with sprints.... get a 2000 lb. bull to chase you!
Glad the other pickup truck was there to help herd him back to where he belongs.

Sunday, pulling the bikes out of the basement, I saw ~6.5 or 7 inch long bear tracks behind the house. Suspect that it is a yearling that has been in the neighborhood. I followed them and apparently the bear stood up and looked in the window.

I have been run after/chased by cows, bulls, pigs, and the best was a male burro who seemed convinced that I was going to steal his "harem". Its all the fun of touring about the countryside!

Could not swear it was a Puma until I stopped the bike and got the light on it- Its not a Puma- It's a Labrador- but it did have me worried for a minute or so.
Hmmmm. Getting off the bike to get a light on a (suspected) Puma/cougar/mountain lion. What's wrong with thatpicture?

Gramp,
Been there. Done that. Geez. My heart would have pegged the HRM redzone the day it happened to me. Glad you are alright. Isn't biking fun? Gives you something to talk about in the locker room! You can add this to your "most memorable rides" category.
Mojo Slim. I've worked buffalo here in Oklahoma. I don't think that fence in your pics will stop a buffalo bull from coming right to you if he wanted. Be careful snapping pics and relying on that measly chicken wire fence to slow down a buffalo (Heck, he might simply jump it if he wanted to.) You'd be amazed.

The outriders of buffalo herds - young bulls - are especially dangerous. It's their job to go looking for trouble. Fortunately they can't see worth a darn, so standing still usually helps (unless you're upwind). If it doesn't help you're in serious trouble.
Tyson is right. Give the big hairy fellows a wide berth!
