Just rode my age in metric!

One of my daughters invited me to go riding for my 64th birthday today. It was a perfect day ... partly cloudy. with temps in the high 60s and winds from calm to 10 m/h.

Together we did about 30 miles on the Cook County Forest Preserve bike trail system. We saw lots of wild life on the trails today. Things that particularly caught our attention were: flocks of the ever present Canada Geese and Mallard ducks, rabbits, several Blue Heron, an Egret, a Red Tail Hawk, a snow white squirrel, a herd of 8 deer, dozens nesting Garter snakes, a Praying Mantis, and several Wooly Bear Caterpillars.

After we finished, I realized that I was only 12 miles away from riding my age in Km, so I just did it.

So...... wouldn't your age in metric be a bit over 100?

Seriously.... Congrats man, good job.

I do all my cycling in metric. It is more impressive that way. Also, the kms go by faster than the miles.

If you have been riding a while- then a distance will eventually be doable- does take some working up to so well done and happy birthday. Only problem is- How is your daughter? Bet she didn't imagine she would be on a saddle for that length of time when you started out.

Shoot, I did that when I was 10 years old...

No, seriously, congratulations. I'm about your age, and those kilometers are getting longer and longer....
