Trainer accessory question for you folks who use trainers

I despise using my trainer and avoid it when I can. However there are times when I use it, for now it's mostly warming up for Time Trials when I'm doing a prescribed warm-up. I usualy don't need a "wheel leveler" or riser for the front wheel as most of the time I'm on flat ground. However my TT bike has dramatically lower front bars and sometimes I'm on unlevel ground. I've thrown in the Yellow pages and use those from time to time to prop up the front wheel but probably need something designed for the job to help preserve the ever present OCP image.......

Any recommendations our there from you folks? I've looked on-line at the Minoura Riser, Blackburn's latest and Kurt Kinetic's leveler. Anything else you folks would recommend?

I guess I could always put a nice duct tape job on the Yellow Pages but I'm sure there's better options!!

One short 2x4, four screws, and two dowels (i.e., broom handles or whatever), with your tire in-between.

I use a 2 x 4. You can stain it or paint if you want it to look spiffy.

This OCP (Ordinary Cycling Pastor) uses scrap wood from the basement. Cost: $0 (of course I use a kickstand for when I'm not on the trainer). For Ms. PB's trainer I went the fancy route and glued a few pieces of cherry flooring together with safety edges like DnvrFox's lifter. I didn't want her to fall off!

I like to add a couple of milk crates along each side to make easy entry and exit as my bike is pretty tall when on the trainer. Oh; and I like to keep a small telephone table within reach for my tivo remote and cordless phone. I would rather be outside but on those bad days this setup gives me a good workout.

I use the Performance Travel Block only because it came with the trainer.

I bought one of the little star-shaped plastic blocks which has three slots: up, down, and level. Works well. I'm sure you could fabricate something equivalent as well.
