Your BF50Plus Film Critic "Reels" one in !!
Out in the garage pre-dawn this am spinning on the trainer and watching this flick from Netflix:
"2 Seconds". Funky, funny, very bike oriented. And the heroine is much more compelling, in a French street urchin way, than, say, Lindsey Lohan and definitely more winsome than Coach Troy.
A movie for bikies. And cycling is very much at the hub. Falling out of your clipless, Campy vs. Shimano, tacoing a wheel, 18 year old puerile bike mechanics....and the crotchetiest, heart of gold ex-racer who ever ran an LBS.
This subtitled, low-budget French (1998) film almost made a Francophile out of me. Besides, the heroine is charming and has great cycley legs. Who can resist a chick who breaks her chain, pushes an 11 tooth sprocket, and gets a sore bottom from too much saddle time.
The Story: "Aging" female pro mtb racer is booted from the team, but only knows and loves cycling. Falls in with uptown bike messengers (hecka-better than hokey "Quicksilver") but still is drawn to racing. Will she find the desire and ability to return, will we get to see more of the LBS owner, not to mention her legs? This is no corny romance or, so far, Rocky triumph-from-nowhere movie.
I recommend it.....a bikie's movie.....entitled "2 Seconds". Netflix.
