Update on repairs (Somewhat long)

I just wanted to give a report on the repairs the LBS did on my bike. As you may recall I had my left crank fall off while riding the other day and was worried they wouldnít cover it under the warranty.

On Monday (16 Oct) I took it to The High Gear Cyclery (Longmont Colorado) to get fixed. I had a few other things that needed to be adjusted and repaired, giving them a complete run down on all my bents ailments. This included the damaged front derailleur, and back brake needing adjustment. My wife had taken the day off for some medical appointments, so after dropping the bike off (9 am), we headed out.

I was hoping that they would be able to get everything done in one day, since we were in the area anyway. It would have been convenient to pick Blue up before heading to our final appointment in Westminster (and subsequently not have to drive back to Longmont on Tuesday). They hadnít called us by the time we came back into Longmont at 3 pm (actually they did call, but my phone didnít register the message until the following day) and so decided to check on the progress. Our final appointment was at 5 pm and we would be cutting it close if we had to hang around and wait for them to finish. The good news was that Blue was done, and ready to be picked up. Even Greater news, there was NO CHARGE for any of the repairs. I was all set to give them an argument over the cost of repairs and they just took all the wind out of my sails. I was really surprised, (no, more like dumbfounded) as I thought that the front derailleur certainly wouldn't be included in any warranty work.

Another good bit of news, I introduced the love of my life to the recumbent section and had her try several of them out. We ended up driving to our next appointment with a Rans Tailwind in the back of the Van for her. I am SOOOOOOO Jazzed! I have a riding partner now! WOOOOO HOOOOO

Congrats on the cost of your repairs and the new Rans. As a 50+'er who rides alone while the wife sits at home, I hope that works out for you.

Ah, Longmont, CO. I stopped there last year and had some barbeque at Shorty's on Main Street. Very tasty.

OK, good about your bicycle getting fixed, but the most important question is: so when so we ride together?

Well DNVR, I am back on mids for the next 2 weeks. The earliest I think it could happen would be the weekend of the 3-5 of November. That is my transition weekend again.
