The outs

Out of the house
Out of the subdivision
Out on the shoulder
Out of the saddle
Out of breath
Out of daylight

Feels Good! Missed it with all that verdamnt ice and snow on everything. House stink officially blown off. Today it was 44 when I left and 29 when I got back. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be 28. I expect my cheeks will be rosy at the Christmas Party tomorrow night.

I finally got out today after last weeks snowstorm. It was still pretty sketchy on the road, but I managed it without getting squashed or falling down. Supposed to be a high of 15F tomorrow, but then it warms up after that. I'm just glad the roads are getting cleared of ice.

All our roads are still covered with ice from freezing rain last week so I'm like a caged lion up here! Makes you realize all those birds that head south in the fall aren't bird brained!

Temperature in Vancouver has warmed up; we're around 5 deg C (40F) now, but the roads are still wet from melting snow.

Got in 47 km after work on the 200-meter indoor velodrome. Did a couple of races in the B category - the A's are just too stinkin' fast for me to enjoy the racing these days, although the young B dudes did wind it up pretty good. Got to test a new pair of Adidas cycling shoes I got off ebay. They are 300 grams lighter per pair than the older Adidas shoes I had been using, and I easily hit 53 kmh over 100 meters during one of my warmup accelerations, so shoe weight does make a difference.

Anyway, sure beats riding out in the cold and damp. They had the heat on; I was in shorts!

Looks like the Gym for me for a while. Not the cold but high winds and rain.

I found the silver lining to the cloud of icy roads. When the road crews bladed the snow off the shoulder of the highway, it did a nice job of smoothing out last summer's chip and seal job.
