Canari tights--another bad purchase

I just bought some Canari tights on sale from Nashbar. They have a chamois and are not the bib type. Cost me something like $39.95. Wore them for the first time yesterday and .....the drawstring snapped in the back of the tights and the stitching at the chamois pulled away from the crotch area. They fit perfectly but are not at all comfortable. The alleged chamois is sort of a big flat diaper thing. Anyway, I've contacted Nashbar via e-mail and am awaiting a reply. Any suggestions for better tights? I think I am going to be looking for bib tights.

I don't know what model of Canary tights Nashbar sells, but I have a pair of Canari shorts that are great. YMMV.

I absolutely love Pearl Izumi's Tokyo Tights. They don't have a chamois and, actually, they're not that tight. In some ways they're closer to warm ups. You wear your shorts under them. Very, very comfy, and since they almost look like close-fitting trousers, you can walk into a 7-11 without looking like Peter Pan.

I do all the time. I have some Starter not quite tights, not skin tight, but not loose either. I wear them all the time with shorts underneath them.

With the PI tights mentioned above it's absolutely no problem.

I just returned from a night ride and I wore my New Balance running tights over my biking shorts. I always wear the unpadded tights over the padded shorts. I tried them the other way once----the seam in the running tights didn't agree with a few parts on my body

I have a pair of Canari shorts but I haven't worn them yet. I need to do some alterations on the legs. They're just too large around the bottom on the legs. I don't believe I've ever seen a women with legs large enough to fit the ones on these shorts

Hate to say it, but with this kind of stuff you get what you pay for. After messing with several pairs of "less expenisve" padded tights, I would almost always go with regular shorts or bibs under unpadded tights. The only ones I have used that I really like are the Blackbottoms brand, have a pair of kickers in those and they work great. $64 at the LBS, not cheap but not super expensive.

I, too, wear bike shorts under tights with no problems, although I've been favoring leg warmers rather than tights these days.

Try these https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=1120
I have been wearing them every other day for about 18 months. They get washed after every ride, the chamois and stitching is the same as on the day I got them.
