Old Hammer Boy's more than half way there

Hi Guys,

Just an update for those who aren't following along on my journal, I'm almost out of Texas and a little more than half way to Florida. If you want the latest information, go to www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/dean. Hope you visit me there. Dean

with the unusual weather pattern, you should get on your bike & let the jet stream carry you all the way across Louisiana!

Seriously, glad that you are (hopefully) warm & dry in this nasty weather. Wait a few days & you'll be able to ride safely & warmly again...

Thanks everyone. My plan is to leave my sister's place on Tuesday morning after some of this weather blows by. Until this weekend I hadn't had a recovery day since Van Horn, I guess about 12 or 15 days ago. It's been wonderful catching up with my journal and giving my body a break. It's also been a great emotional boost visiting with family. Again, thanks for your encouragement and kind words. Dean

Awesome!

I bookmarked the journel (do it at the last page you read folks, trust me) so I can keep up on your progress.

Fair Winds!

Good to hear from you again.

If you didn't see my thread about my meeting a guy who was finishing his Southern Tier tour in Savannah, then be careful in Alabama. He was harrassed by the police throughout his ride there, being pulled over 6 times. This made the grand total of times where the police pulled him over on the entire tour to be 6.

I find myself checking for updates to your journal several times a day. I'm still jealous of your adventure.
Have a good rest. Ride safe.

I just arrived in LA. The weather's very nice, and the people are even nicer. Only problem is the darn head wind. It looks like I have about 1045 miles to go. I'll keep you posted... Dean

With all the bad weather in Texas a couple days ago and now 40-50 mph winds that has moved into the higher elevations of NC, I couldn't help but wonder how Dean was doing. From looking at his daily updates it doesn't look like he was out in the weather during all that stuff.....Thank Goodness!

I managed to dodge that one. I saw it coming and got into a motel. It blew by throughout the night, so I didn't even miss a day of riding. I'm currently near Baton Rouge at a nice camp ground, and will be here for two days. I need a day of recovery since I haven't had one since Houston (about 350 or so miles ago). I'm feeling great and still expect to dunk my wheel in the Atlantic the first or second week of May. Thanks for checking in. Dean
