Reached First Milestone

Just to pass on the news, I have reached 1074 miles as of today. Hit the 1000 mile marker on the 17th and didn't realize it. 1/3 of the way through my goals already.

Good work. Ouch, for me I'm under 800 and in the hole for my 3,500 goal in 07.

Congrats, Sandwarrior! I'm so far behind on my 2007 goal I have started riding backwards. You're doing great!!!

Good job, Sandwarrior. I'm actually ahead of the pace I need for my goal. This is the first time that's happened before summer.

That's great!
I'm just hoping I come in the same as I did last year. Still, even though I might be getting fewer miles in, they're *harder* miles. I can live with that. I guess

Thank you for all the well wishes. Congrats to all of you on track or ahead of your goals. For those of you behind the power curve...keep up the fight and don't get discouraged

Have you considered adding a magnet or two to your front wheel to help catch up to goal? I was fretting the other night about that problem myself and that option seems like it has a lot of potential.

WTG Sandwarrior. To be honest, I'm just a teensy bit ahead of pace for the year myself, not quite where you are, but happy with where I am. I swear, I'm having the time of my life riding a bike for fun again.

I'm way behind my goal for the year, but I had a six week + layoff somewhere back there when my knee acted up. What this is teaching me is that while the goal is cool to have and pursue on some level, it's also absolutely arbitrary and meaningless on another. I have fifty rides in already -- many of them are short little rides I squeeze in here and there, so the overall mileage is "only" about 500 miles so far, but you know what? I've had fun 50 times already this year. So I guess my knee problem has helped me see the relative importance of goals and milestones -- still love 'em when I get to 'em, but what's even MORE important (to me) is making sure I'm out there having fun. And I am.

And I also try to remember that even 500 miles, to a non-cyclist, is absolutely unbelievable anyway! So I still have bragging rights with most of my friends...

I thought I would make 3500 miles with no problem. With the bad fit and my knee, then my crash and a few cracked ribs. Now, I just got done with foot surgery. I have had a lot of fun though, but I guess it came with a price. I got just under 2900 miles for my year starting in July. Do you think I can get another 600 miles by July 1st ? The foot wasn't bike related.

Good job, keep the wheels spinning.

I'm at 1500 and about 200mi behind where I should be, too much business travel in Jan. At the end of the day a goal is a goal and if I don't make it it doesn't bother too much. I'm lucky that I can ride almost everyday down here, no weather to slow you down.
