Today's ride w/PICS - Seminole Park, FL
- as promised, this is the third in a series of posts to show pics of local rides... this 5-mile loop ride is special to me and almost essential during the blistering heat and humidity of summer as it offers shade, water, and water-cooled breezes - a very pleasant way to spend a morning...
- i generally get to this ride via a frenetic 4-mile dash through extremely high-speed (50mph+) urban traffic; no way would i consider riding on the main route (Park Blvd.), although i do ride auxiliary roads with little fear if the right lane is wider than normal... sidewalks are nearly everywhere in the county... - there are a number of water impoundments off each corner: http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/a.jpg - cheesy but fun additions abound for peds: http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/b.jpg - water from the Gulf of Mexico feeds through to create brackish impoundments: http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/b2.jpg - every lane is bounded by trees: http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/c.jpg - looping around: http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/d.jpg - and again: http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/e.jpg |
- cutoffs from the main road lead to other short loops:
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/g.jpg - lots of shade: http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/h.jpg - and finally, to yet another water's edge (one of five in this ride): http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/i.jpg - here's a new friend (hanging around with mouth open): http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/j.jpg - but alas, never, ever go swimming!: http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/seminole/k.jpg |
Great pics! It is always interesting seeing the scenery that others get to enjoy-especially when it is different from what we're accustomed to seeing everyday.

Nice pics. Looks like the MUP from heaven.
Thanks :D |
That's a great looking trail. Thanks for sharing.

Looks wonderful, you guys having any problems from the fires up there? We had a lot of smoke again yesterday, sure makes the recovery slower, today looks better though.

- today looks OK, but tomorrow's forecast includes - you guessed it - more smoke! |
Well, lets hope for some rain. I am looking out the window right now and it looks like LA, brown layer of air. Minor changes in wind direction seem to have a big effect and with the storm hanging off the coast the winds have been pretty strong.
