Oh no! My belts are too big!

I really haven't lost that much weight since getting back on the program, maybe 12 pounds or so. But I am eating better (can you say salmon twice a week!) so here's the problem:

All, and I mean ALL of my belts are becoming too large. I'm on the last hole in each one, and that's really not working that well. I haven't measured (wish I had started with some measurements beyond weight) but it would appear that Mr. Tummy is getting somewhat smaller -- not go-out-and-buy-full-kit smaller, but smaller none the less.

It's a wonderful problem to have.

Wonderful feeling, innit? I have Levi's I used to wear -no prob- without a belt.
I can put 'em on and take 'em off without even unbuttoning them now

As I posted in a thread a good while back, belt holes is the only measurement worth keeping track of.

Way to go!

I work with a guy at work that "Was" overweight. 5'8" and 350lbs. When he had a heart problem he went on a diet and cut down fairly quickly to around 220lbs His shape did not change much though. Then he started exercising a bit- and I do mean just a bit. went to the gym on a weight programme and actually gets his HR up to about 130 now. He bought a bike- admittedly an electric assist bike but he bought a bike. He has not lost a great deal of weight from his 220 but you can see that he has lost bulk. He has gone down a good few sizes on his waist from Tent size to around 45 to 50 inches,. He feels fitter and he is enjoying life again. He actually asked me about what his next bike should be, but as I told him- Get a Roubaix, in white, and you will just have to ride that thing to keep it happy and the weight will gradually come off. So much so that he will have to start thinking about specific cycling clothing aswell.

A belt is a wonderful thing, A leather punch will help the belt you like to be the right size for your lesser self. You might even get to cut some off the end to make it loook good.
Oh Yes.....congrats on the new size too.......................peace

I quit drinking regular coke about three months ago. With no other addtional changes I've dropped enough weight that my favorite walking shorts, which have been tight for about a year or so, actually fell down past my hips while I was walking the other day.

I thought the button had come undone...but no!!!!

Congrats DG. I have the opposite problem. When I quit smoking 1 1/2 years ago I had a 30" waist and weighed in at about 145. Now it's a 32" waist and about 160lbs and the more I ride the more I eat.

Hello All:

I know the felling, about 2 years ago a car right hooked me. And
busted my left leg up real good. It took me a year of healing and
talking myself back on the bike. By than I had gone up to 240 pounds,
and wore a 42 pants. Now a year later, I'm 168, and wear a 34 or 32
pants depending, what time of year it is. It's was a tough year of riding,
and being scared of cars, but I got thur it. I commute 10 miles a day
back/forth to work, and miss only about 10 days a year.I keep a old
pair of 42 pants and a belt, in my closet, just to remind me, of what
I never want to be again. Take care out there.

Are you aware that belts stretch, and that is likely what has happened?

DG-I took my belts up to the shoe shop and had the fellow shorten them up for me. Saved a bundle on buying new belts.

It is a "commitment" though!! Hint-leave a hole or two for the Thansgiving and Christmas season!!!

Don't shorten it.

Keep putting new holes in it.

The excess remainder hangs down from the hook like a badge of honor!

Man, I know what you mean. I had to cut my belt a bunch. I've gone from XL to L to M in jerseys, Sounds good, but that means I have a bunch of cycling clothes in 3 sizes, and some of them were things I really liked.
My wife thinks all this is cool, and I'm happy, but I HATE shopping for clothes.

Beware, DG! Your burgeoning case of RBA(road bike addiction) seems to be leading you in the direction of more mileage, which will in turn accelerate your belt problem. Once that happens, you'll soon be sporting bib shorts and race fit jerseys. Or maybe its just me...

I use my cordless drill to put more holes in my belts. It makes very clean holes.
