Rode my first and last century . . .
. . . until June 4, June 6 and June 16.
My favorite century (this was my 5th year) was Saturday, in Indian Valley, Plumas County, California. It is my last major ride before I leave on AIDS/LifeCycle6 June 3 -- SF to LA in 7 days.
The Plumas-Sierra Bike Club started out en masse. We had 12-14 riders.
With the cool weather, adrenaline and a small peloton, we rode along at 20 mph clip, much faster than I would normally do, but by wheel-sucking I kept up.
After the first rest stop, we splintered, as the hammerers wanted to get going. This is a beautiful ride, albeit I don't have any great scenery pictures this year. But we did pass this two on a bent. The dog's name is "Cooper".
The first 35 miles of the ride follows the edge of a big valley and can only be described as flat. But just after the second rest stop starts the 11 mile climb to the lake and lunch. Then it's a 11 miles around the lake over nice rollers. Of course, it's beautiful.
This picture is actually from last month, when I rode up there with a friend.
After riding around the lake, we get the 11 mile down hill. The road was a bit rough, but downhill is always fun.
Back at what was rest stop two, (now rest stop 3), bikes are lined up along the picket fence.
Now, it back over the 35 flat miles to home. A bit of a headwind, but I averaged 15.7 mph (my best ever). Of course, I had to turn down the offer of Margaritas at a club member's house on the route. They weren't ready when I went by, and I was on a schedule. I wanted some in my water bottle. The last rest stop was out of Gatorade.
A short recovery ride this morning shows everything is still working and I'm feeling ready for the 560 miles that starts 6 days from now.

I almost never see a Brooks saddle on a bike.
A lot of roadies would never use one due to their weight.

Don't mince words
I think you're missing some women on that ride.
My hubby (cgallagh) hang glides above Greenville. I have wanted to bike around the Indian Valley for years now. Color me green.
Thanks for sharing!

Anytime you want to ride Indian Valley, I'll be your guide. I have seen a number of hang gliders up there. Maybe cgallagh once.
