Since I started riding

I feel like I've been getting in a better mood than before. I was always in a pretty good mood before that, but now I'm starting to sing in the shower. I haven't done that in 40 years, since my first divorce. Just saying

I have a friend who had "Henry the Eighth" stuck for YEARS. That is what I would indeed call worse. I'd catch him whistling it all the time and yell at him to cut it out!

Rawhide was my theme song in the swingin' 70's

Don't try to understand 'em
Just rope, roll and brand 'em

I didn't start singing in the showers until I got divorced. Now I know what Dr. Martin Luther King meant when he said, "Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, I'm free at last."

Heck, I've sung every day for about the last 10 years after 29 rough years.

Seriously, though, endorphines may have something to do with your happy state--that is if you didn't find a 5 gallon bucket of Viagra.

Or maybe, just maybe,

really just maybe,

you found a saddle you liked.

Man, I wish you didn't bring that up. This B 17 is so comfortible I can't believe it. Now I'm asking myself if I used to much proofide ( about 4 coats). If I did, and this one is ruined, I wont have another one under me.

George, lay off the proofhide awhile and enjoy the ride. Try a "Momma's and Pappas" song in the shower.

Now George, you aren't going overboard with that Proofhide, are you? All Brooks recommends is very light use of Proofhide to help weather protect the saddle and keep it from drying out. I think at a frequency of about once or twice a year. The small tin they provide in the care kit should be enough to last 10 years or more.

I was at the point, either pitch it, or ride it, so I added proofide. I really hope I didn't ruin it, but after all those miles I was getting pretty fed up. I read where one guy gave the adjustment screw a half turn off. Maybe I should have done that, but it was after the fact.

George, listen carefully. You have not ruined your saddle. It will be fine. Now, take the remaining Proofide and any other concoctions you may have, place them in a bag. If you bought one of those little wrenches for adjusting the seat tension, put it in the bag. Now take the bag and give it to your wife. Ask her to put it away someplace safe (or just put a brick in the bag and throw it off a bridge). Ride the bike for about a year or two and then, maybe, get about a dime-sized dab of someone else's Proofide and rub it into the saddle.

Leave it alone. You can't ruin it if you don't mess with it.

Yep, getting rid of those annoying things in your life does leave you singing in the shower

Quite often I get serenaded by Red Rider in the Stoker seat. She gets so happy during a good ride she will break out in song. Sometimes she just makes something up to go along with the ride. That and mooing at cows, braying at donkeys, gobbling at turkeys and clicking at horses make for an interesting ride.
