When is a 50+ Forum NOT a 50+ Forum?

Do we have ANY standards.

Now someone wants to call it the "nice people's" forum!!

I wonder how many folks are here under a fake age?

Grr. Mumble. Grumble.

It's a great forum, too bad posts slow-down so after 10:00 on weekdays, comes with the territory I'd say.

I plan to be crotchety after 65.

It is one of my life's ambitions.

Easy solution: make me the judge of all things appropriate for this site.

46 y/o woman with loving husband three small children, look better now that she did when she was 20 years younger, and laughs at the cheap imitation of "Larry the Cable Guy" schict. Yeah, she stays.

42 y/o woman recently divorced for the secound time because neither husband could hang with her up the hills and the second one is frankly a *****. She states that she's here to whip u into bettershape we could have beat 'em possible. This one, the kharma isn't good enough to bond with the enlightened one who see sex as an end to a means. Other plans are beiing reinstated although with less fiduciary response capabilities forseen.

50 is just a number. How old do you feel.....I'd qualify for the 90+ some days. How old do you act .... I can maybe pass for 27

Relax and let go. Let it go, let it go. Do you really care if someone under 50 comes to visit, and makes a few comments while they are here? bk

I have noticed alot of people that are often posters in other forums- occasionally made an appearance on the 50 + forum.
I do not know their age as they have never let on.

Now as to Dnvrfx's real age??? I know how old he says he is- But He could just be an overmature 35 year old for all I know.

The real test will come on the Ride your age rides- When they start claiming a Pie for only doing 40 miles- Then we chuck em out.

You see how much we've declined? First someone wants to ease off on the age requirement. Then somebody suggests calling this the "Nice People" forum. Now even Denver is becoming politically correct. How much lower can we go?

I'm for starting a 65+ forum with strict age requirements and absolutely no smiley faces - but not until October.

As far as I know, anyone can read posts and respond to any of the forums currently available. However, I think it common courtesy to respect the intent of the forum. I suspect that if I were a bent rider I'd get pretty miffed if someone came to that forum on a regular basis and wanted to talk about the joys of riding upright...or, if I were into touring, I'd probably get annoyed if too many folks were posting about road racing.... etc. There's a great deal of "playful" posting that takes place in this forum that I don't see on others with the same level of civility or respect, most of which has nothing to do with forums description: "Share the victories, challenges, successes and special concerns of bicyclists 50 and older."

Yet, at the same time I know that numerous studies confirm that people like to communicate, be around, and associate with others who are not too dissimilar from themselves, evidenced by the continuing growth in age restricted retirement communities. What's my point? I can't remember... another "senior moment".

Yes, I have REALLY mellowed these past couple of years. I used to jump all over folks who called themselves "old" or used that in their screen name, or words like "codger" or "geezer." I haven't done that for some time now. I once was proudly nominated for crankiest, most curmudgeonly member of the entire 50+ forum!

How about a 65+ "sticky?"
