Fell off my bike

I was at the very end (of course) of a 15-mile ride when my front tire caught an edge of the pavement and it went sideways. It seemed like I went over in slow motion. I was going uphill very slowly, so it wasn't too bad. I crashed to the pavement, banging my elbow and knee. I was clipped in but both feet came out. That was probably good. To their credit, two passing motorists stopped to see if I was OK! Thanks.

No need to really respond to this, I'm just venting because it just happened.

Glad you're okay...but...how is the bike?

That's one difference between mountain biking and road biking. Sometimes you have soft landings on the trail, but on pavement it's always going to hurt.

Let's see now...

Would I prefer to fall into that pile of rocks leading down to the big drop or into the path of that car over there??....

Glad it was just a minor tumble. I had one this morning, also.

When I ride at lunch, right as I get back to the office there is a curb I need to go over. Every day I tell myself to be careful because I would hate to make a slow-motion crash right in front of about 50 windows of co-workers. So far, I've remembered each time. But I know there will come a day when its raining or I have an important meeting to get to or just having a bad day, that I will forget and create a spectacle.

That's what band aids are made for. Glad it wasn't one of those kind that casts are made for.

Glad you're okay. I was run off the trail yesterday by a crazed Red-Wing blackbird. It was the sixth time this bird has tried to nail me and it succeeded while I was taking a drink. Fortunately, I ran off into the tall grass and didn't fall and there were no witnesses to the six ounce bird beating a 250lb cyclist.

This would have made a viral video for sure.

You don't know how to ride it until you fall off it.

Your description reminds me of my first (and only, so far) fall. We were coming to a stop at the curb very close to home and the sole of my shoe clung to the pedal and I was halfway down before it finally came loose, but not in time to prevent me from landing on my kneecap. Looking back, it did seem like slow motion, and I've read others say that too. I wonder why it seems that way.

I'm glad you weren't more hurt.

I feel your pain. No, really. Climbing a hill, paved, on my mountain bike a couple years ago, somehow I just laid it over into the faux shoulder. Ouch. The pride.

We won't talk about my falls from a standstill on my road bike.

Glad nothing was damaged beyond what a Band-Aid will cover.
