It's hard coming back

OK, I'm not where I was a year ago, no, but I'm not where I was before I left for NY either.
I missed 10 days in NY ( not counting the stationary ) and just got cleared by the doctor today to start up again. So, I went out and did 15 miles. OK, I went out for 12 on Tuesday but maybe that was dumb. Anyway, it's just hard to get the rhythm going again. I know it'll all come back but it's amazing how fast it can all go away, isn't it?

Don't worry. They say riding a bicycle is just like riding a bicycle, only that it tastes just like chicken.

Or something.

Once again, TWL has made me chuckle. Someone give him a cookie or something. He's earned it!

Sorry... didn't mean to be redundant.

Ain't no big whoop. I woke up the morning after we got back home and walked into -kicked- a suitcase.
Looks like I probably broke a toe. The doctor says there isn't much to be done... play with pain, I'm not going to damage it any further. So... I ride.

Been traveling a lot myself. Riding has been sporadic between crashes, doctors, airplanes and travel. Got home from a quick four day trip to Tulsa last night. This morning RR wants to go riding. She has been riding and teaching spin classes. The tandem was out of action so off we go on the 1/2 bikes. 39 miles later I dragged into the driveway, totally worn out. We went out with the club for a quick Winters loop. The pace was way out there. We did 39 miles at an average 19.6 mph. So much for a little mercy. Tomorrow she is in a seminar and I have a choice of riding or the gym or both. I have to go to Texas for three days on Monday and next Saturday we do an unsupported century into Napa across the high hills between Solano and Napa and back. Lunch will be at V. Sattui winery.

Well, I did go out and do 25 today. Planned on 20... did 25. Made sure some climbing -or what passes for climbing for me- was built in. Felt pretty good. My legs still feel a little dead in spots but I'm pushing through it. Man, I love riding And I reminded myself of that, often, today.

For every week off the bike, it takes 2-3-4 weeks to get back to the same conditioning. I'm getting ready to put that to test as well!!
