So should I ride more this week or rest up?

I think I might have mentioned that I'm signed up to try the Queen City Century this Saturday and that it will be my first ever attempt at a century ride. I'm wondering if I should ride more this week or not. Saturday I put in a good 35 mile ride with a fair amount of climbing for around here. Sunday was an easy 10 with the entire family on the MUP (man was that a sweet spot in time too - sorry J.T.) Monday off, and I just put in a nice sweaty 25 miler. Normally I would ride at least one or two more days before the weekend, but I wonder if I should with the long ride coming up.

Words of wisdom from the experienced crowd? Thanks
It's all downhill from here. Except the parts that are uphill.

But you could share some of those show up fees you've been getting all this time with me... That would be helpful.

I think you should ride a recumbent all week, so you can ride AND rest all at the same time.

I put in about 30 miles or so on Saturday. I planned to ride Monday and Tuesday and then lay off for the rest of the week.

Ended up at the office until 11:00 PM Monday night working on a spreadsheet! I was running on fumes all day today, so I rode the indoor recumbent after work.

I may do a little something on Thursday weather permitting but nothing strenuous.

The weather sounds like it will pretty nice, low to mid 80s, but when I do my century I think I'll do it with my best friend, me.

Actually it's that other Terrierman that is riding on Saturday, I'll be tinkering around in the shop and playing with puppies and might go down to the MUP with Lovey for a few leisurely miles.

I always feel best when I go into long or hard rides with some easy miles in the legs before.
    I'd ride all week.

A good hard ride Wednesday if you want. Easy miles Thursday. Little or nothing Friday. Start hydrating now if you haven't already.
The more you ride your bike, the less your ass will hurt.

I would take at least the day before off and if you really want to be strong take two days off before. More than two days usually only hurts my riding. I would also take the day after off to let my legs recover. That is my 2c

    +1.
Starve a terrorist - ride a bike to work. It's not just good for the environment, it's good for civilization.

I do a brisk - NOT HARD ride 3 days befoe an event, then 2 days of rest with the day before a short 80% max recovery ride, then the big day. What I eat beginning 3 days before plays an important part. No junk food, plenty of Carbo's and I hydrate- hydrate - hydrate before the ride.

    Have Fun and Good Luck.
