Looking for New Bike Routes?
 

This could be a good free resource. Just happened to stumble on it today:

That's quite a resource. I know a couple of the route providers for the state of Kentucky.

The one thing that our local bike route guide (www.kybikerides.org) doesn't have is a summary of the road conditions you might encounter. I've found many roads that I didn't know even existed, and they are great riding. A few of them have been death traps, however.

I'll hang on to this new site. Should be fun.

I'm lucky in that when I started Riding- I rode with a guy that used to walk the trails up on the hills. From the number of tracks and the distances we used to do- He must have done a lot of walking.

When I started road riding- I got the maps out to pick a few routes to give me a circular route. Just used a large road map for the area and got quite a shock when I found out how many 15% hills there were in the area. They all looked flat on the map.

Hmmm...it seems that most of the routes do not include a cue sheet. Probably, I'm not doing something right, but I'm bookmarking the site anyhow. Maybe I'll learn to use it, eventually.:)

Try out mapmyride.com. From the home page, zoom the map in by entering a city or zipcode, then select "Find" at the top of the map, pick "Show public routes on map". It asks how many to show, and minimum and maximum distances. The starting locations are shown on the map. Click one to see it's description, then click the link to the map. This is good--it doesn't depend on knowing the town names that the route might be linked to.
