My First "Real" Unsupported Metric Century
I've ridden organized metric centuries, and I've ridden laps of the local MUP totaling 100k, but today, I rode my first unsupported 100k ride on "real" roads. Probably the most climbing I've done in one day, too. Tulsa to Mannford to Sapulpa to Tulsa. Went through two bottles of water, a camelbak that holds about 3 more, and a 44 oz. Powerade slush. You can see the full report, w/map, here.

Way to go. I don't care what anybody says, that's a long way to ride a bike in a day.

Congrats! After I did my first one I realized the only limits on where I could take my bike were in my head.

Nice ride report.
I'm sure I wouldn't be able to ride in those temperatures

Way to go! Now there's no excuse for not riding these kinds of rides on a more regular basis. Liberating, isn't it?

Excellent! The organized metric should seem much, much easier.

I don't think it was that big a deal to be honest.
Just kidding. I'm still working up to my first 50 miler.

Great ride, but you should get some rest for your century next week.

Nice ride and report. Congrats on the accomplishment.
I bought my bike in your fair city. I need to get it back over there for a little tune up.

It had been many years since my last metric century.
Almost did one last year on the Platte River / Highline Canal / Cherry Cr loop.
I've done two this year.
First was a loop from my house NW to I25 & Big Dry Cr trail.
SW to Standley Lake
W to Little Dry Cr Trail & W to Highway 93.
S to Clear Cr trail in Golden
E to Platte River Trail
NE to Spratt Lake & Grange Hall Trail
N to some local trails & a little detour to finish off the 100K.
Two weeks ago I biked down to the Platte River trail - S to Littleton & Prince St.
& back up to Niver Cr trail to my work - 8 hours on my feet before heading home to complete the 100KM ride.
(Had to run an errand & didn't want to pay for the gas!)
Now If I could get rid of about 50 pounds, it would make things a lot easier...
I would probably need a downhill route to average 15.5 MPH.
Usually more like 11 MPH average on my MTB

Look- You did a good ride and deserve all the credit you are receiving but beware on those recovery rides. If you cannot get your heart rate up there is a reason and the body is telling you to slow down. Not that I check on it much nowadays but towards the end of a gruelling ride- my HR can drop by as much as 20. That is telling me that I am Shattered. Same on your 20 miler. If the HR won't rise- come off the 15mph and get down to 12. You will still get the recovery ride in- but you won't feel as tired the next day either.
