O.T.Gardening (Bit of Biking)

Several of you have remarked about my Garden so Have attached a Pic.

This is a typical English Cottage Garden with plenty of Herbaceaous plants and perennials- Don't like Annuals as They are hard work.
Lived in this house for 20 years now so the garden is getting established and is nearly right.

Ideal thing about a garden like this is that I can relax in it after a bike ride and if that hot- I can get in the pool and cool down.

Also attached pics of the important part of the garden- The Bike shed.

Absolutely stunning!

If I had a gardener maybe mine could look like that

You English have such a delightfully different perspective on time and the way things work. A much longer view than most Americans. It's certainly reflected in your very nice Garden.

Just be careful never to succumb to the temptation to store garden tools in your bike shed.

How pretty! And you had a sunny day as well.

I miss the lushness of gardens grown where the relative humidity is >20%.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden with us.

Nice bike shed, btw.

I have a question: When do you have time to go biking? I pay lots of money to a bunch of Mexicans so I can maximise my biking time.
So you see: Different strokes for different folks.

I love the look of your garden. It is a piece of art. My admiration and envy

What a gorgeous garden! Gardening is my hobby during the cooler months. Beginning this fall, it will share my time with my bike.

Looks pretty darn good. I see they sell the same cheapo plastic yard furniture in Britain AND the U.S..

The garden looks great stapfam. I was surprised on your earlier post that you actually had your bike work stand positioned on the grass. I assume you placed it there just to get a picture of the new bike. I can't imagine you having the stand on the grass, dropping tools, spilling lubricant etc.

I was one of those who commented on your garden earlier. Thank you for the new pictures. My wife and I were in England in 1999 and I was amazed at how nice of gardens everyone had. Yours is even better than I remember them. I think most of us (in the US) are in to much of a hurry to have that nice of a garden. I used to raise a nice vegatable garden, but as I got busier at work I found that I was checking my garden at night by flashlight so I gave it up. Now my wife and olest son are the gardeners in the family. One question, do you grow any fruits or vegatables in your garden?

Possibly, but I wonder if it's also the cooler England weather. Gardening is out of the question for me during the summer months and the hot temps (90s-100+) sometimes last into fall. Only in late November is it cool enough to do much gardening. I'd garden all year if the weather was right all year. Not that my garden would ever look as nice as his tho'.......

Trying to reply to all as I think of them. The gardening is done in the spare time when I am not biking or sorting the bikes- It is easy maintenance aswell with plenty of Mulch to keep the weeds down and moisture in the soil. It is only .2 of an acre so about half the size I would like- but a lot larger than most gardens in modern houses. Now the bike was put on the lawn for photo shoot- but if you look at the 3rd picture- in front of the shed is gravel. The table and chairs are stacked so I have an area 10' x 25' where I can work on the bikes. As to vegetable growing- There is a vegetable patch and we only grow what we like and as there are only two of us- does not have to be that big. We can grow all the veg we want in 10'x10' and but if anyone wants a cabbage- I have plenty at present. As to fruit- None at present but plans are in hand for Gooseberries- Black currants and The rhubarb is already on the veggie patch. Then there is the Grape vine- but only in its second year so still have to learn how to grow that one. On top of that there is a Greenhouse so tomatoes- Cucumbers abd Squash growing in there.

Gardening is a pleasant pastime but I garden all year round- Even out by torchlight to pick off the slugs and snails. Off for DG's ride now.
