Problems uploading pictures??

I've tried to upload some pictures last night and again today but keep getting an error. I know the files are under the size limit. I've tried uploading from my computer and a website (Picasa) without success.

Anyone else having problems or is this just me??

I just checked the "User Assistance" section and it appears I'm not the only one with this problem. I'll keep checking there for an answer.

I do it like this:
1.) I "Go Advanced"
2.) I click on "attachments" which opens the "manage file attachments" window.
3.) I up load the file attachment (photo) then close the "manage file attachments" window.
4.) I click on "file attachments" again this time I see the file I had uploaded in the last step.
5.) I double click on the file attachment to put it into the post.
I seem to always get the photo to show up in the post, not sure if this the correct method but hey it works for me.

Have never been successful to upload photos. I get the message that file is too big, so I gave up.

Beverly, if you send me one of the photos and I will look at it to see if there is something strange. Send it to kbrown@idirect.ca

I looked at it in Photoshop and it looks fine. Sometimes pics are in the wrong colour mode, have a high resolution or have one dimension that is too large, but this one looks good. May I upload it from my computer to this thread to see if I can do it, or will it spoil it for your intended thread?

I saved the picture to my computer and tried again....same damn error?

Post it here. It was taken yesterday on a club ride on the Little Miami Scenic Trail from Yellow Springs to Urbana for lunch. I was going to post it to stapfam's thread on lack of pictures from the group He'll just have to read this thread for the picture.

This issue came up many times. The problem is that there is not a single procedure which will work for all sources of pictures. Pictures may come from a camera, a Internet site, an article in some magazine. The source picture may come in a wide range of quality and resolution.
To post here, you need to first format the picture. That is where the problem starts. There was an outfit called "TinyPictures.com" who did this for free. They no longer do last time I looked. Microsoft Photo Editor can do the same thing but you have to know what you are doing and it is not so simple for an occasional user such as us here.
I have access to people who are very computer literate. They have no problems with any of this and always make me feel old.

I'm also having a problem....loading pics, not as attachments, but directly into the text. Starting a few days ago, and using Photobucket and the same series of steps that have worked before....but now I'm told "invalid file". I even tried photos I've successfully loaded before and was told "invalid file". Oh well.

It failed for me too. Let me try one of my photos of similar size.

Nope. Must be something wrong with the board today.

Looks as if everyone is having problems this morning.

I also read in the "user assistance" forum that many people didn't receive their daily digests.

Thanks....I'll just add the comments here.

Yesterday I met some friends and we did a 52 mile ride on the Little Miami Scenic Trail in SW Ohio. This picture was taken near the end of the day at our favorite ice cream stop on the trail.

It was a great ride and fairly uneventful except for our encounter with a ground hog. Poor thing probably had nightmares about all those wheels trying to run over him. He darted onto the path and the two lead bikes barely missed him. He then decided to change directions and had another close encounter with the tandem and my bike. Thankfully no humans, bikes or animal were harmed and everyone continued on just slightly shaken

One rider did have a flat tire but that was quickly fixed and we were back on the trail in less than 10 minutes. The only surprise was when the lady opened the Ziploc bag to retrieve the spare tube it looked like a small snow storm. She had that thing packed in talcum powder and it appeared she used the entire bottle

Tried to post this the other day with no luck. Let's see if this works.

No go. Still says uploading errors. Pix is only 26k so not over the limit. Can not understand what I am doing wrong.

Don't know if this is related, but I've stopped receiving e-mail updates of postings to threads a couple of days ago. At first it was intermittent, and since last night, nothing. May be a server issue rather than a technical issue with the photo file.

BTW -- nice group photo. I'm disappointed you did not get the ground hog to pose with you

I have no problem linking to an image in a message, but updating my avatar failed last night, both with linking and uploading. There must be a problem.
