New build - I'm addicted

I only have 4 road bikes currently (mostly lugged steel) if you don't count the Schwinn I'm selling. To round it out to one per work day I bought an Al/Carbon frame (frame, fork, FD only). DG - note the high amount of white. I'm curious about how the carbon seat stays change the ride. I'll build it up with cheaper/sale components and lots of stuff I have on hand (e.g., dura-ace barcons) The internet scoop is the Columbus Zonal triple butted 7005 alloy isn't the lightest but it is strong.

I'd post on the road forum but they probably have lots of reasons to disdain my pick.

You know, I had bought some yellow cork tape $3 down from $10 last week - I guess I know how to use it now.

That's a beautiful bike and it's got a lot of white and we know that's a winner. Thanks for sharing.

Looks pretty sweet to me. Who cares what others think if you like it thats all that matters. This stuff is supposed to be fun and I think some folks here on this forum and other forums like guitars or cars or what ever the subject matter seem to think its all about the best and most expensive. Its a hobby or in some cases and obsession but if it can't be fun above all whats the point. I guess I could be called a Fred and my wife a Fredette or what ever the female term is, but when we are riding together its the most fun thing and its good for us and I've dropped 30 lbs so far and still counting. Oh yeah and I have blue helmet and one green bike a blue bike and a grey and black bike, crud they don't match (the horror of it all )

They're not supposed to match. 50+ is a secret word for Fred. This is the home of common sense.

Edit: Well, perhaps I got a little to excited with that last one.

It should be quite a different ride than your current stable offers. Keep us posted on the progress of your new addiction.

Yeah those guys can get pretty nasty when it comes to bikesdirect.com. Many, however, have had great luck with them. They are also quite opinionated when it comes to frame materials. Looks nice to me and I hope you enjoy it. A few years back I went from a lugged steel Basso to a Cannondale CAAD 6 (with different wheels too). I really did not feel a huge difference. Now I'm riding a Merlin Ti with Topolino wheels and Michelin Pro Race tires. THAT combo makes a real difference.

I think there is a multicolor tape: yellow/white/balck which would look sweet.

I used some clear shellac on yellow tape for a bike I gave to my son. Doesn't change the color much & the tape should last much longer.

Yes, I'm up to 5 road bikes [a little tight in the storage room ]. I have a
red/white Fuji touring/road 853 steel as a 9 speed commuter with barcons, fenders, rack, and all CF fork
black 1990 Miyata aluminum lugged, carbon fiber wrapped single speed / fixie
white/tourquise 70's Raleigh Gran sport, 531 lugged steel, full fenders Eclipse rack - 7 speed [two wheelsets, one high flange]
white 86 Paramount, dura-ace, lugged Columbus SL - now 8 speed friction

I have some clear shellac. I wonder how it would work on cork

I've dropped 20 lbs and have 10 - 15 to go. I've been acquiring shoes, jerseys, shorts, helmets, etc on the cheap for a couple years now and actually color coordinate to some extent - though that's not a big deal.
