Wow - that looks great! Sorry to be out of town this weekend. Somehow I'm missing some good rides, we really should have a sticky or subforum that lists organized rides like this.

The sticky sounds like a great idea. I'm sure there have been times where BF members have been at the same event and weren't aware of it.

When I read the fellow's comment that it was more challenging than Mountains of Misery, it made me wonder if he really rode the last 3 miles of MoM.......If it is indeed true-my oh my.

Sorry I'm on the wrong end of the country.

But FYI, based on my experience those DeLorme ride profiles can vastly overestimate the actual cumulative elevation gain. I went on an organized ride earlier this year where the DeLorme profile showed 11K ft of climbing, by my Garmin the actual climbing was 4500 ft. Don't know whether knowing this will make you feel better or worse. :rolleyes:

I think the last three miles of MoM have got to be harder.

I'll be on the Mt.Tam double century this Sat. with 14,000 ft. of climbing.

backinthesaddle is quite close to the right place for this one (Marin county),
so probably will be on the Mt.Tam double too.

Take a camera and post pics please. (Besides, stopping with the camera is a good excuse to get off and pull the heart rate back down to where you can see it. ;)

You should try one (if you haven't before) backinthesaddle :) .

Double centuries are quite the adventure for me, plus this one is more difficult then any I've attempted before. So if you're new to doubles, maybe this is not a good one to start!

However, the Knoxville Double starts in Vacaville, and that's not too far away from you either. It's a bit easier (I've ridden Knoxville 4 times), with only 12,000 ft. of climbing.

Plus, doubles have a great community of riders, most of whom are 50+ :D .
