What Does Your Bike Color Reveal About You?
In another thread, Old School sez, "Your bike color reveals a lot about you." So fess up, what does your bike color say about you? (We already know DG is as pure as the driven snow).

Probably it means I go for function before paint. My cyclocross is black/silver, FS is creme/burgandy, beater 1 is blue, and beater 2 is irredescent purple. Kinda' wish they were all blue/white, but it didn't go down that way. Maybe the TT I'll be setting up can be blue/white!!

It says that the color my LBS had in stock for the model I wanted in the size I needed happened to be red.

My bike colors reveal that I have a blue and white road bike, a brown beater road bike, a silver mountain bike, a purple mountain bike turned road bike and a red road tandem. That's about it.

I have a green mountain bike, a blue mountain bike, a red mountain bike converted to a drop bar commuter, and a white road bike.
I look to fit and function first, if the color isn't half bad and the price is right I will take it.

My first road bike was on sale and that was the only one left. I had no choice. My second road bike I got free on a raffle at the grand opening. It was a free frameset. Again no choice. But on the second bike, I did have a choice on the build up. So I tried to do some color matching with what I got. No big deal.

My bike colour tells me that I'm gentle yet decisive, brilliant yet modest, set in my ways but eager for new experiences all the time. It says that I perceive everything with total accuracy but I sweat a lot. On cloudy days I'm insipid, perhaps even flaccid. When it rains I shed feathers. It syas that I will come across large sums of money and take a trip where I will inspire friends and enemies alike.
Of course I might be reading a bit too much into it.

It reveals that I am cheap, as I don't like red very much but went ahead and got it because it was such a good deal.

If I had any choice at all my bikes would be stripped to bare aluminium and maybe.....just maybe clear coated. The carbon parts would be clear coated. Thats it.....no color at all.

Mine reveal that Lemond sold only bright yellow Buenos Aires' in 1999, and that the Windsor Leeds I got on EBay for a song is blue, and that 1998 Specialized Hard Rocks are always red. and the conclusion is I don't really care what color the bike is!

With apologies to the Rolling Stones...
I see a fast bike and I want it painted black...
I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah!

I didn't get to choose any of the colors of my bikes. If I did, they'd all be black or brown. Nothing flashy...

Thanks for the nod, JT...
I have to admit that color does factor into my purchasing decision -- not just price. My Trek OCLV roadie might be described as "Merlot" with a hint of gold metal flake. My Trek MTB is "Trek Red" and silver. I chose each over other less appealing (to me) colors. What does that say about me? I guess I am a Trek fan for one, and a discerning consumer with a penchant for riding something that matches my hair color (I am a redhead, of course)!!

Well, I'll admit it. I am shallow. I was foolish when I got my road bike, and I thought color didn't matter, but I have never liked the silverish color of my Sequoia. Since then, I have insisted that all my bikes be red or pink. I shopped for an MTB till I found one that felt good and was red, and I special ordered my commuter bike and had it painted red. My grocery store bike just happened to be pink, and that's one of the reasons I bought it.
My helmet's red, my Camelbak's red, most of my shirts are red. My next car will be red. What that says about me is that I like red (and pink, but mostly red).
