Next summer's bike tour - is this planning too far ahead?
Just confirmed next summer's bike tour, with the same gang of friends with whom we rode from Helsinki to Stockholm in 2005 and London to Copenhagen last summer.
Whee!
This summer (2008) it'll be a circular tour of North Brittany (France), London to Portsmouth, ferry to Saint Malo, and then a coastline and rural tour in Brittany. One of my favourite parts of the world. 20 in the gang so far. I foresee that food will be involved.
All I have to say is "yip yip yip huzzah". Do I make myself clear?

We have confirmed our bicycle trip to Mallorca, Spain for next fall and we have another biking week scheduled in Southern California in May that we planned last May.

Anticipation is a large part of the fun. What better way to go through winter than to think of, research, plan and anticipate your summer bike trip? Also, it is a good way to motivate you to do some training. Have fun.

They have tours of the texas Hill Country and they run about $800 for the week. I'd like to give that a try.

I'm always dreaming of a tour.
I want to take off about 6 days for the Texas Hill Country sometime before February. I may just do a base tour from a nice hotel or camp site somewhere. I like mild winter camping.
My bride is at least talking with me about doing a week in Ireland next summer on good rental touring bikes, provided I don't try to do 70 miles per day.
I'm planning to do Oklahoma Freewheel. Don't know about TRIRI yet.
The one I really dream about is the day we sell our company, I order a new Co-Motion Norwester Tour, and then take a couple of months from Anacortes, WA to Boca Chico, TX.
Just dreamin.................

Yep, that's the plan. Some friends, my wife and I plan on doing it. The route this year is a bit circular, ending about 150 miles from the start. Not as exciting as the Southern Tier like I did earlier this year, but what the hay! We can't go far here (Utah) without running into some serious climbing, so I don't think we'll have any problems with the hills, besides it's supported. Should be fun, but not France for sure...

Not sure what you mean, but I was a youngster back in 2006. BRAN is one of the many crazy things I did when I was 49, apparently trying to run away from the thought of being 50. Turns out it's not so bad...

A week from July 5th. Spare places - not entirely within my gift - We've booked through a trip organiser "Skedaddle" who seem like a very good company, and reserved for 20. If your tour brings you to the Wilkes-Barre area I have a place for you to stay. It doesn't seem to be on your route, but if you come this way for a short preparatory tour let me know.
Either way, I'll meet you next spring for a ride... I did my first ride on my new bike, and I am looking forward to piling on the miles!

You're gonna love it, wobbly, I did a similar trip back in the 80s. If you get a chance to visit Belle I'sle on the far-eastern tip of Brittany do it. It's beautiful.
