Off to Tuscany and Elba followed by San Diego
Velodiva and I will fly from San Francisco to Rome on Saturday (we may “fly-over” Missouri) to commence a 10 day tandem cycling tour of Elba and Tuscany organized by Santana Cycles. Our trip includes a pre-tour of Rome before we board a ferry to Elba for a couple of days of cycling then returning to the mainland for the balance of the tour. There will be 50 tandem teams and we are looking forward to some great cycling, meeting new people and fantastic food and wine. We will post some pics.
Upon our return from Italy, we will drive the next day to Los Angeles (no “flyover” states this time) with our singles for an overnight and a possible ride in Orange County on Saturday driving on to San Diego. We lived in San Diego / La Jolla for 16 years and plan to do some of the rides we did before.

Don't mince words
Boy, does that sound like fun! Sure wish we were going with you.
No doubt you two will have a wonderful time and bring back many fine tales to tell. Can't wait to hear 'em, as well as see the pics.
Enjoy!

That sounds almost as good as my upcoming trip to Red Wing, Minnesota!! Hopefully leaving tomorrow morning to spend a few days relaxing and biking along the Mississippi. Too bad you have settle for Tuscany & San Diego, Hermes.

We spent Tuesday night breaking down our new tandem for the first time and last night packing it for the first time. Lots of extra time spent cutting tube covers and trying different combinations to get everything to fit in the cases. Hopefully everything will make it to Rome in one piece.
We look forward to meeting you and sharing some great adventures in Italy.
Our daughter lives in Vista and we plan to take one of our extra tandems to her place so we can bike when we visit her. I hope to be able to discuss some San Diego bike routes with you.
See you in a few days.
Jeff

I sure hope you have better luck with the weather than I am having. Last weekend it was in the 90s in Red Wing. I was worried it was going to be too hot. Now I'm here and the forecast for tomorrow morning is mid-40s with 20-22 mph winds. Very disappointing. Supposed to be a beautiful 72 on Sunday, but I'll be gone before then.
